You asked me how I would feel if something told in confidence to a "professional" would be referred to police. Well, I would be speechless, and I speak from personal experience. When I was 16 I had psychiatric help for my anxiety over school bullying in childhood and my irrational phobia of groups of young men.
Eventually it was winkled out of me that I had a sexual experience in childhood. The psychiatrist asked me "how damaged did you feel?" I was a little stunned and said, "I don't feel damaged. I enjoyed it." The psychiatrist looked like she had seen a ghost. She then proceeded to vilify me and accuse me of being a liar and that I was only saying it to "get attention." She disbelieved all I said.
A year later I finished up this therapy with a psychiatric nurse, because no psychiatrist or psychologist was available. For many months, he grilled me, "Do you have a girlfriend?" "How old is she?" The nurse was obsessed with the age of my girlfriend.
Later it came to bear that he received confidential medical information that the previous psychiatrist promised and guaranteed she would not note, as I demanded it be off the record.
At the time of the interrogation of the nurse, I was tutoring children in mathematics with overwhelmingly enthusiastic recommendations from ALL parents, skyrocketing their children's achievements in mathematics at school, among other things.
The nurse discovered I was tutoring and referred me to the police. Two detectives interrogated me in front of my mother after I declined to attend the police station "for an informal chat."
The detectives asked me about all the medication I was taking, inferring they had a prior knowledge from somewhere. In Australia, it is illegal to release confidential medical information without a patient's consent. It is also highly illegal and unethical to do this to minors, which legally I was. Also, it is (I think against police rules or declarations of the rights of minors, not illegal as such) to interview/interrogate a minor without parental consent, which they did not obtain.
This episode destroyed my only source of income, my self esteem and my self confidence. I slipped back into my old ways of not leaving the house for many weeks on end. For weeks on end I never saw the sun as I slept all day and lay awake worrying all night. I was paranoid and confused at how I could be now considered evil because of the fact that I had a sexual relationship as a boy that I consented to and immensely enjoyed.
Luckily, my father kept up an assault on the state health department and police, causing the nurse to be removed from his position and the police in question to be transferred to another area. Undoubtedly he caused them much grief as he contacted all parliamentary ministers concerned with health, the police commissioner, and a ruthless young lawyer who had previously had information on one of the police officers who interrogated me, that she had a habit of spreading rumours around town, and indeed records that the particular nurse was already under scrutiny for making frivolous complaints to police on numerous occasions.
In the end, a reasonable outcome, despite the cost I had to pay as a young person.
I find it deplorable and despicable in the extreme that most 'professionals' are indeed unprofessional, and that they are required to report anything and everything with special emphasis on children and their lovers. This belittles and makes redundant the entire purpose of such professions! (To give confidential services).
I agree that such individuals are spineless and cowards. They have no minds of their own and are grossly unfit to practise. Even such people who claim to be guardians of children ruthlessly attack children. Consider those children branded violent sexual predators for life for harmless sex play with other children, and those vile, inhuman animals like Janet Reno who led such assaults on Bobby (? forget surname) in Florida on false, manufactured charges of child abuse.
Also consider how these evil, nazi-like hypocrites such as Reno kill children and get away with it (refer to the Waco, Texas incident in 1993. Child murder at its best, and happily accepted by the government, media, and everyone else it seems). Also, consider the dangerous hypocrisy of these people evidenced in the fact that a New Zealand mother who tied her 10 year old son up to a tree or clothes line and set him on fire only received 4 months in prison, while any male only possessing mild child pornography would receive years in prison.
This all defies logic and should insult the minds of all decent, rational intelligent people.
This world we live in makes me sick and I regret that I live in it. Again, I repeat my sentiments previously. Fuck you, society. Love is never wrong, and you are hypocrites and nazis.
